Welcome to The Popcorn Review a new blog space designated for entertainment reviews and recommendations.
I hope you fall in love with this segment's name as much as I have, "popcorn" is definitely one great nickname to have when you're called Paloma, I mean, it's either being a bird or a good batch of popcorn and I take the latter gladly. Popcorn makes me so happy, it's smell is so linked with relaxation and good times, so being called that occasionally makes me smile and fits perfectly for this new space don't you think? It's like it's been waiting to happen for as long as I've been named...
As an avid Netflix/HBO/Disney +/(every streaming service ... I mean come on, there has got to be a point where new streaming services stop popping up independently and come together again please?) certified binger and all-time Book Worm I constantly watch, read and listen many new and old things many days of my life, and this has inspired me to create this little space where instead of writing everything up in a tracker at home, I can share with you all my ideas, thoughts, recommendations, points of view and every thought that can come from my pop culture immersion.
Reading was hard for me during my time at uni because every spare moment at home threatened with sleeping faster than you could ever imagine, and my mind was just a little off for reading during those years, but now I've got more free space up there I've joined a couple of book clubs, take recommendations from friends, and am just starting to return to that book eater pace I had back on the good old high school days where a book a week was not just an attainable task, but the usual.
This space will motivate me to share more and think more about what I see, read and listen. You'll find book reviews, playlists, top whatever lists, and pop culture inspired "essays" or as I prefer to call them, "set of words and thoughts that go well together" because I will not be as punctual, formal or well written as I ought to be in order to be serious, this is meant to be a fun space that inspires you to go and read or watch or listen whatever I found inspiring and sparked a little something inside me, made me laugh, or cry or reflect on life and the marvelous artistic ways we have as humans to express ourselves and touch others.
As of now, I'm finishing up a nice review on January's book of the month for my book club Daisy Jones and the Six a nice, easy light read that transports you to a groovy place back in the 60's and 70's in a terrific and new writing form. If you speak spanish and are ISO a book club and some delicious recipes, please do yourself a favor and go follow @lupifv on instagram, she has the best healthy tips, recipes and a book worm community that is light and perfect to get you back reading.
I'm also working on a folklore-evermore personal analysis and love letter to Taylor really, which will be ready just in time for me to start sobbing over the re-recorded albums set to launch this year, and some streaming recommendations and must watch shows.
¿What's something that inspires you from the entertainment world? ¿What are your recommendations for this new space?
