New phone means new case, and if any company out there is acing the digital ad business and mass supply in the super protective case industry ... it's definitely Casetify.
So I decided to try their personalization feature and went ahead to design and purchase my first Casetify case. Many of you may know I love designing cases, creating stickers and vinyls that help you personalize your most personal item ... your phone. I usually have them printed by a local manufacturer, yet I really wanted to try out the Casetify system and quality, and they did not disappoint.
My design was inspired by spring in New York City, because it's spring, and I really want to be in NYC, simple thinking right? The unfinished look illustration style and color palette combined perfectly with my once again gold & pink iPhone which seems like the only color I'll ever commit to. Creating this case was fun and easy, in this short entry I'll teach you how it's made ... for you to create your own / have me design your own case from scratch and guide you through the process of ordering it online.
A very important thing to keep in mind though, is that both, Casetify and me, take copyright infringement seriously. So as far as I can ask, please do not try to steal others artists' work .. its mean and sad and lets people down; and as for Casetify, well, they'll simply reject your order, I did my research.
So ... let's get to it!
Create a design you love in an appropriate canvas size. This can be made in different platforms, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Procreate are my go to recommendation. I did mine in Procreate with my canvas set to 3.5" x 6.33" which is ideal for iPhone 12 Pro Max. Google has the answer for every phone style sizing, it's just a search away. Remember to set the DPI's as high as possible for better printing quality and your canvas to CMYK.
Export your design as a .png. I recommend this for every design even if it's not transparent as mine, it's easier to upload and maintain quality throughout the process the image will go by.
Enter to this link and choose your phone and case type, then click on "add photos" and upload your design. Adjust it so it fits perfectly, I can assure you it prints exactly with the margins you see on screen.
Add to cart, pay for your case, and wait for it to arrive!!
The case arrived in just about 5 days and it comes protected and in a special box. I've got it for about a month now and it's still just as new, it's really got great quality, which tends to fail while printing them locally. If you're interested in a case with my design, let me know and I'll gift the .png to you. I can even change the monogram in the Rosé to make it unique. If you create a case with your own designs, please tag me, add #penpaldiy or share it via DM so I can see your creations!
I know this is the beginning of a long journey making phone cases, one of my favorite accessories ever! ... I'm already in the works towards setting up my own Casetify artist profile, let's hope it turns out great soon!
